Changing Tides is one of those songs that formed largely as a happy accident. It was definitely one of the easier songs to write (which is pretty rare for me), I think that it came to me so easily because it’s a pretty honest song about my own experiences. It’s definitely reflective of my life since leaving Brighton – I think a lot of people go through this strange limbo of feeling lost or directionless after experiencing change which can be a pretty hard place to get back from.

The lyrics are about my experience going through the process of healing from some rather drastic changes in my life, largely through finding someone who supported me through the highs and lows of finding this ‘new me’. I think it is pretty easy to start feeling like you’re alone and somewhat ‘stranded’ in the process of change, I guess that’s where the theme of the song comes from, like being lost at sea. But sometimes all you need is that one person who can help guide you back to who you are, or sometimes even the person that you hope to be.
