Changing Tides
Artwork Deep Dive

Resin was coloured and set into a wooden frame in layers of differing colours to create a deep blue sea effect. This process took over a month!

Styrofoam was used as a base and words were cut in using a surgical blade, these were then filled with sand and painted in layers to give depth to the text

The sand in the single art is actually real sand! (A very thin layer of it admittedly) Play sand was chosen due to how fine the grains were, this was largely to manipulate scale. This was then layered with washes of paint to darken the colour.

A mixture of Mod Podge, PVA, White Paint, Dish Soap and Water made a loose mixture that when blown with a straw created bubbles that set hard on the resin

The artwork for Changing Tides was entirely a labour of love taking two months of work to complete. The photograph taken was of a scale model beach front built into a 0.5m² wooden frame. The model is made from Polystyrene, Sand and Tinted Resin.
